The Band

The Band (also known as Greatest Days) is a jukebox musical featuring the music of Take That. It’s 1992 and five inseparable teenage girls are united by their love for their favourite boy band. “The band” is their escape and their passion. But life takes them in different directions and they lose touch with each other. 25 years later, they reunite to see “the band” perform one last time in Prague, and they embark on a hilarious and heartfelt journey of nostalgia, discovery, and reconnection.

The Band is a love letter to music fans, rooted in characters that are authentic and relatable, but also genuinely moving and uplifting. It invites us to reflect on what it means to reconcile friendship and how to deal with loss, but coupled with the joyous music of Take That, and the team is excited to bring the high energy and cheesy 90s boy band moves to the stage

Initial ideas for the production and staging centre around a flexible set that allows us to move between multiple locations: from bedroom, to school, a concert hall in Manchester to the streets of Prague - there’s plenty of locations to cover! Central to this will be a raised metrodeck platform, with five portals underneath that can serve multiple purposes. A further idea is to have a moving staircase that can also frame a range of locations. There should also be opportunities for a concert-like spectacle to be realised on stage.
