Chekhov Four Farces

Chekhov is better known for his fairly serious dramas but he also wrote many short comedies, which he referred to as 'farces' or 'burlesques'.  Bawds will be producing four of the farces, which take a lighthearted look at hopeful romances, broken marriages, dashed fortunes, grumpy landowners and quite a lot of vodka!

The set must be able to accommodate four different plays, three of which are period pieces in various settings in 19th century Russia with the fourth taking place on an empty theatre stage at night in the present day.  The lighting, sound and music, props, costumes, etc will need to show a clear division between the four plays and music will need to be selected that helps the set changes to form their own theatrical experience so that the audience are engaged throughout.

The four directors will be working closely together with Sarah, who is designing the set(s) but all are keen to encourage other members of the production team to contribute their ideas in order to deliver a unique experience for the audience.  Having the production team on board early on will be important to achieving this.
